Differentially hardened by traditional claying method so that the grain (snake) pattern shows distinct layers
The blade has grooves (bo-hi)
The tube is made of blackened iron with the image of a " tiger" inlaid with brass
Lacquered with Saya black paint and inlaid with brass bamboo leaves
