Product detailed description
Style is not so much a matter of elegance as it is a matter of character. The Böker Black Amboina is the perfect proof that these qualities can be perfectly combined. The striking 6/8-inch razor is completely black and for the first time has a polished blade made of highly durable carbon steel. In this special process, the surface of the blade is transformed into a black oxide layer by the action of acid, and therefore we cannot speak of a coating in the classical sense. The exceptionally ground blade is serrated on both sides and thus underlines the exclusive character of the Böker Black Amboina. Thanks to the balanced weight of the blade, the blade glides very pleasantly and cleanly on the skin.
The handle made of exotic Amboina wood impresses with a strikingly diffuse pattern, which in places resembles wild carbon fibre. The wood, which originates from Southeast Asia, owes its special texture to the tuberous growths in the root area that give each piece its unique character. The distinctive black colour and pleasantly smooth handle surface are achieved by stabilising the wood. In this special process, heated epoxy resin is pressed into the pores of the wood and then cured. The bulbous shape of the handle creates a successful contrast to the straight edge of the blade and strongly emphasizes the lines of the razor.
Discreet visual accents on the handle catch the eye with two nickel silver rivets and a silver Böker tree shield.
With authentic Böker stamp in the blade, certificate of authenticity and elegant stand.

Böker - the history of the factory dates back to the 17th century, the original forge was then located in Remscheid. In 1829-30, production was extended to sabres and swords. At that time, the factory employed over 100 blacksmiths and sharpeners. In the second half of the 19th century, part of the family moved to the USA and Canada, where they established further production facilities. The last of the Bocker siblings, Heinrich, moved to Solingen where most of today's production comes from. Boker manufactures knives according to its own designs and those of well-known knifemakers.
The company now manufactures its products in Germany, the USA and Argentina and uses the marketing brand MAGNUM. Böker develops new types and designs itself and employs several designers. The knives are manufactured on CNC (computer controlled machine tools) with the highest quality.
