On 19 December 1941, at Eluet El Asel, some 400 men of the 1st Battalion Royal Paratroopers braved an attack by several Indian battalions: leaping from their trenches and throwing improvised grenades, the "lions of the desert", as London radio defined them, held the line and allowed thousands of German and Italian soldiers to retreat safely. It was the first action in the history of the Italian paratroopers. The "Tuscania" Parachute Regiment requested a special design for the Extrema Ratio T911 to commemorate its 80th anniversary.
The T911 is a lightweight, medium sized closing knife designed for professional use by military operators, equipped with a blade made of Bohler N690 modified cobalt spearpoint steel heat treated to 58 HRC to achieve the best compromise between toughness, ease of sharpening and edge retention.
The 76mm (3") long and 4mm (0.16") thick blade has a Stonewash finish and flat blade, and rotates around a tension-adjustable pin, allowing the user to achieve the desired smoothness when deploying the blade. Once adjusted, the pin is secured with a secondary screw.
Hard anodised anti-corrosion aluminium alloy handle with black finish, shaped for easy transition between reverse and sabre grip.
The blade extends from the folded position with the usual thumb stud and is secured by a liner lock with an additional safety system to ensure maximum reliability under heavy use. The lock lever is coloured red for visibility and engages the lock in the forward position for more instinctive use.
The handle has an integrated belt cutter with readily available industrial blades, a tungsten carbide glass breaker, a folding stainless steel marlin tip and an AISI 420 steel flat screwdriver to aid in adjusting the rifle scope.
A clip is attached to the end of the handle to allow deep concealed carry with very little of the knife exposed. The clip can be rotated from left to right side.
The entire knife can be disassembled for cleaning and maintenance.
With an overall length of 194 mm (7.6") and a weight of 145 g (5.11 oz), the T911 knife is easy to carry in uniform and civilian clothing.
