Product detailed description
The Rondel Dagger, or round dagger, appeared in Europe in the Middle Ages (from the 14th century onwards) and was used by nobles and knights as well as merchants, for example. The dagger was suspended in a sheath at the waist and served as a tool of everyday use, as a weapon in battles and tournaments. In the 15th century it became the standard backup weapon for knights and from 1415 it was commonly used in battles such as the Battle of Agincourt. The remains of King Richard III show that it was the Rondel dagger that dealt the fatal blow at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. Due to their narrow shape and triple-edged blade profile, they were able to penetrate armour or helmets. The blade of the dagger is made of 1055 steel and has a typical long and slender shape with a tapering tip. Its triangular profile gives the blade its distinctive strength.
