Product detailed description
Over the years, many useful tools have come from the Japanese, such as the Nata (which translates roughly as an axe in this context) is one of those that hasn't received as much attention as weapons like the katana or EDC tools like the kiridashi. It was used primarily as a gardening tool, to prune or remove branches from trees, to clear brush, and to perform tasks one would expect a knife to do before power tools or modern tools came along. However, the Nata's simplistic design perfectly complements its functionality.
TOPS' version of the Nata knife combines traditional Japanese style with American ruggedness.
The wide, rectangular blade retains its mass along the entire length of the blade, making it cut better than most knives of this size. The sloping handle also enhances the chopping power. The TOPS version has a standard flat cut on both sides of the blade instead of the chisel or single-sided style that many Japanese tools have.
The Nata, a full tang knife, like all TOPS fixed blades, the thick, well-shaped handles provide a comfortable grip and the simple holster with raised front makes it easy to carry and use at home, on the ranch, at the campsite or anywhere else.

In late 1998, the TOPS Knives brand was founded with the goal of creating some of the highest quality knives on the market. These knives are tools that are designed and built using the extensive knowledge and real life experience of many users in the military, armed forces, outdoor professions and martial arts. Specifically, designers with backgrounds ranging from Navy Seals to Airborne Rangers, from martial arts instructors to survival experts, and from SWAT team members to Native weapons experts were collaborated with. TOPS has a designer from almost every background that uses hard-core knives.
All TOPS knives are handcrafted in a sweatshop in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, USA.
