His full tang frame is made of 1095 high carbon steel and the handle is made of all-black canvas Micarta. At just 3/16" thick, it's a very fast blade. The belly of the blade is deep for splitting firewood and building shelters.
It needed to have a large curved primary bottom edge, a partial top edge (for backswinging) and what they call "SHARK TEETH Serrations" for blocking, ripping and tearing brush, cord or whatever gets in its way. The handle must have offered two types of grip. A "long grip" for fully extended machete swings and a pinched grip for precise cuts or carving. Finally, a small grip for scraping and a lanyard hole on the butt of the handle.
