Product detailed description
Ask any Norwegian today what his first knife was, and the answer will be "speiderkniv med raud tupp": a "Scout knife with a red tip."
Helle can trace the origins of these knives back to 1947, when the first Scout knife with a red blade was made. Contemporary designs featuring the Girl Scout and Boy Scout motif and their traditional Scout costumes date back to 1971.
The knife was designed and is still manufactured today with two clear intentions. First, that even if the knife is going to be used by a child, it should be a proper tool. That means it is sharp and has a functional handle suitable for smaller hands. Secondly, that it is safe. A double-sided guard prevents hands from slipping on the blade, and a sheath with a button closure means that, when properly stored, the knife will stay in place after use.
Always remember, however, that the most important safety mechanism is proper training - children need to be taught how to use the knife and to respect it as a tool. Therefore, ensure that the knife is used under adult supervision. Teach them the rules of use and make sure they take care of the knife. And teach them not only how to use it, but also where to use it - outdoors and in the company of adults. At Helle, they pride themselves on taking care of nature - and what's more important than showing the next generation the way in nature?

No machine can replace skilled craftsmanship.
Helle knives are made to withstand the pressures and stresses that knives are subjected to during use. Helle maintains its tradition of handcrafted craftsmanship, not subject to automated production and an unnecessarily wide range of models. They believe that the highest quality is achieved through honest hand craftsmanship.
Experienced professionals are proud of the Helle production system. As each piece leaves production, it is checked for up to half an hour, for the sake of certainty that all quality and workmanship requirements of the knife are met.
A Helle knife goes through up to 45 stages of manual operations before finally being inspected and packaged.
