Product detailed description
In Norse mythology, Idun was the goddess of fertility and was in charge of guarding the apples that ensured the gods eternal youth. For many she was also a symbol of love and rebirth, and in a famous poem she was referred to as the lover of the gods (ása leika). Unlike earlier models of the Northern Lights knife series, the NL5 is slightly rounder and softer in shape, making it an excellent choice as a hunting knife. The straight, fairly generous leather handle provides total control over the powerful laminated CoS blade. The laminated blade is forged from cobalt specialty steel (CoS). Generally, this means the blade is significantly stronger and stays sharp longer. The sides are made of tough, 420J2 stainless steel. This superior combination of metals combines all conceivable and desirable knife properties including flexibility, torsion resistance and blade durability, all in a single knife. The 5mm thick blade itself is strong enough for all reasonable tasks, but with laminate technology, you can expect an additional 20% strength in the form of bend resistance compared to a solid blade. The beautiful handle is made from specially selected ox hide, which provides a secure and sturdy grip. It ages with elegance and acquires an attractive brown patina as the years go by. Each knife in the Northern Lights range comes with a quality black leather sheath.
