A tribute to a war veteran: The MK2.1 is a restyling of the MARK 2 combat dagger, one of the most widely used knives of World War II.
Extrema Ratio's goal with such an ambitious design project was to preserve the distinctive features of the original while introducing only those changes they deemed strictly functional to improve its effectiveness.
The blade is made of cobalt steel, AISI 303 and AISI 304 steels were used for the other parts, and the leather on the handle was replaced by fiberglass-reinforced nylon.
It retains the ergonomics of the original Mark 2, while all structural parts have been enlarged to create a robust and high-performance multi-purpose knife. The most significant changes are aimed at eliminating the known "weak points" of the original knife: these include the ability to disassemble the knife without tools in the field, the straightened modified Bowie profile allowing for easier maintenance of the blade, and the barrel-shaped grooves on the handle, which both help the user to properly orient the blade in the dark and improve its grip during twisting movements (the "screwdriver" effect).
Small accessories include holes for the safety cord in the guard and holes for mounting on the bar on the front guard.
The Extrema Ratio's usual "side groove" has replaced the traditional full-length slotted drawer, improving appearance and reducing weight.
A standard thigh holster with automatic retention mechanism and protective flap is included.
