"Arditi Distruttori della Regia Aeronautica" was an Italian battalion serving mainly in North African battles during World War II and awarded two Silver Medals of Honour. Their mission was complex sabotage operations against enemy airfields, which they carried out using then-unprecedented guerrilla tactics. Now the 17° Stormo Incursori (17th Fighter Wing) of the Italian Air Force is carrying on their glorious legacy as a special unit. As tangible proof of continuity, members of the 17th Wing line up and parade with combat daggers at their belts, just like those worn by the Arditi. This ADRA dagger, with its classic European shape, was designed for and with significant input from the commanders and operatives of the 17th.
