In July 1942, the Devil's Brigade was formed. Under the official name 1st Special Service Force, American and Canadian soldiers were combined into a special purpose unit that was specially trained to fight in the rear of the enemy. The roots of many Special Forces units continued after World War II from this unit. Numerous nighttime ambushes, in which, probably for the first time, all faces were consistently blackened for camouflage, also earned them the nickname Black Devils from the German Wehrmacht, indicating the high regard the enemy had for this relatively small unit. Between 1943 and 1944, the 1st SSF took part in many successful battles in Italy and France, and was able to decisively influence situations important to the course of the war.
An important part of the Devil Brigade's equipment was the specially designed V-42 combat knife, which was also part of their intensive close combat training. The handle made of pressed leather discs tapers into a conical striker. The thin leather padding under the slightly curved element should prevent injury on impact. Coated SK-85 stainless carbon steel blade (SK-85 is a more modern carbon steel that is suitable for larger knives as well as tomahawks and axes. It has a hardness between 57 and 60 HRC and was developed as a balanced optimization of SK-5), is double-sided ground and has a grooved thumb rest. This legendary dagger still adorns the emblem of the US Army Special Forces. This choice collector's piece comes not only with a classic, deep-fitting leather scabbard, but also with a replica of the unit's textile emblem, a red spearhead, and a reproduction of the original, German-written sticker with the text "Das dicke Ende kommt noch!" including the emblem 1. SSF, which was pasted on walls, cars, walls, doors, etc. at night behind enemy lines to demoralize soldiers.

Böker - the history of the factory dates back to the 17th century, the original forge was then located in Remscheid. In 1829-30, production was extended to sabres and swords. At that time, the factory employed over 100 blacksmiths and sharpeners. In the second half of the 19th century, part of the family moved to the USA and Canada, where they established further production facilities. The last of the Bocker siblings, Heinrich, moved to Solingen where most of today's production comes from. Boker manufactures knives according to its own designs and those of well-known knifemakers.
The company now manufactures its products in Germany, the USA and Argentina and uses the marketing brand MAGNUM. Böker develops new types and designs itself and employs several designers. The knives are manufactured on CNC (computer controlled machine tools) with the highest quality.
