Rockstead TEI-ZDP
Code: TEI-ZDPRelated products
Product detailed description
TEI-ZDP forms the flagship of the Rockstead knife line. The blade features convex cut on both sides in the tradition of the highly regarded Japanese sword. This type is so sharp that it can cut cleanly through a sheet of paper even after slicing through hemp rope. The double convex surface of this blade provides amazing knife sharpness.
The double convex shape of the blade is called HONZUKURI ensuring the highest possible sharpness, although it is not very suitable for rough handling.
? "TEI" in Japanese means "to be very close siblings."
Total length: 213 mm
Blade length: 93 mm
Weight: 155 g
Steel: ZDP189/VG10
Thickness: 3.7 mm
Hardness: 67 HRc
Handle aluminum: A6063
The surface texture (roughness) measurement for Rockstead Ra knives is only 34 nanometers!
The total Rzmax size is not even 250 nanometers, which is ¼ micron!
The sharpness is incredible and is not conditioned by the distortion of the micro-teeth after grinding, as is the case with other knives!

Japanese ROCKSTEAD knives are the absolute world leader in this field and are at the top of the current steel production possibilities.
ROCKSTEAD knives also have unique blade shapes, taken from samurai swords. Usually convex ground, or even a combination of convex and flat ground. ROCKSTEAD blades thus use the traditions of samurai sword making to create the perfect knife.
The mirror-smooth surfaces of the blades make the most of the properties of steel. The whole polishing process is very tedious, with 400, 600, 800, 1200 and 2000 grit paper being polished. If a scratch is visible on the blade at the end, the whole process is repeated from the beginning. There is no similarly finished blade to the ROCKSTEAD knives. Comparing the micrographs, the difference between the classic machine steel of the conventional manufacturers is obvious. The ROCKSTEAD blade is smooth, whereas the other knives are shaped more like the teeth of a saw blade. The incredible properties of Rockstead knives are also documented in the following videos. You can easily split a loose hanging sheet of paper even after 1000 cuts of hemp rope. This knife has a beautiful flat surface with extreme sharpness. You can thus enjoy excellent cutting abilities for a very long time.
